"Directed by..."
Screencasts are video captures of your computer screens, often with accompanying audio. Screencasting is a great way to quickly produce digital tutorials for staff and students or to engage your students in the procedural writing process. In this workshop we will cover the basics of screencasting and use a free program, Camstudio screencapture software to create a short screencast.

Please come prepared with an idea of a simple online task you would like to teach staff or students.

Google Docs

Presented in conjunction with the Faculty of Education at UOIT, this workshop explores the Social Web & Google Tools and how they benefit the classroom teacher. Learn to use Google Docs, a collaborative technology that makes working on group projects a more seamless and fluid affair. You will learn new ways of authoring group documents, spreadsheets and presentations in a more time-effective manner.

Google Docs is free and easy to use and can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. It enables you and your students to create and share instantly and allows anyone in the group to update online, even at the same time. Google Docs' sharing features enable you and your students to decide exactly who can access and edit documents. Help promote group work and peer editing skills and encourage multiple revisions in your classroom and in your school.
