Sharing Content

share_contentonserverIn Adobe Connect, Hosts can freely share resources with participants in a variety of ways. From the main 'Share' pod, Hosts can share:

  • his/her computer screen
  • Files
  • Whiteboard space

One of the most effective ways of sharing content with participants is to share one's desktop. This can be beneficial for slideshow presentations, demonstrations and simple documents.

If users are to browse files independently during the course of a presentation, and for better file rendering, Hosts may wish to upload Content to the Adobe Connect server prior to a meeting. These files can include everything from .pdfs and .ppts, to videos and .docs. create_content

  1. From the main Host Home Screen, next to 'Create' click 'Content'.
  2. Browse for the file.
  3. Give the file a name and click Save.
  4. In the main Share Pod in a presentation, click Documents -> Share From Content Library.
  5. Click on the desired file then 'Open'.
NOTE: Adobe Connect provides two ways to share files in meetings:
  • the File Share Pod (Pods -> File Share). All file types (pdfs, docs, jpgs, flvs, etc.) are supported in this pod.
  • broadcasting a shared file (Pods -> Share. In the Share Pod itself click Documents -> Select from My Computer...) Only PowerPoint, JPG, SWF, FLV, MP3 & ZIP are supported.

connect_whiteboardWhiteboards can be useful where users wish to collaborate in a free-flowing environment such as brainstorming ideas for a given project, create study notes or work in a team to produce a graphic representation of a give topic. A range of whiteboard tools are also provided and users can hover their mice over each icon to gain a better understanding of the role of each tool. To create a whiteboard space, hosts can:

  1. From the main 'Share' pod, click Whiteboards -> Whiteboard
  2. Clicking the pencil+paper icon in the lower right corner of the whitespace reveals the Whiteboard tools.
Once a Whiteboard has been used to sketch out ideas, the 'Pointer' available in the bottom of the Whiteboard area, can be useful when presenting ideas over Adobe Connect to others.
